Project Solution
In the scope of this project EST signed a contract with Winpower, SA, aiming to build three power plants with a total of 9 MW on the islands of Santo Antão, Fogo and São Nicolau.
On Santo Antão, in the village of Porto Novo, the generation is done to 6.6kV and consists of two HFO/MDO combustion engines with 1.67MW each. The distribution to the local electricity grid consists of 13 medium voltage panels to a 20kV voltage level. Last June, operations started at the power plant in Santo Antão. On Fogo Island, in the village of São Filipe, the power plant is completely identical to the power plant in Santo Antão.On São Nicolau, in the village of Tarrafal the generation is done to 0.4KV, and consists of two MDO combustion engines, each with 1.14MW. The distribution to the local electricity grid consists of 10 medium voltage panels to a 20kV voltage level.
In addition to the above, EST is also responsible for the development and design of the monitoring system, commissioning and putting into service all the LV/MV electrical installation, including network/generation power protection and supervision system.
