Project Solution

Sonae Industria is one of the largest wood based panels producers in the world. Like particleboard MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard), hardboard, OSB (Oriented Strand Board) and value added products and services for furniture, building and construction.

To fulfil the increasing production demands, Sonae Industria had to implement a new line for wood flake production. In this way, EST was contacted to project and implement the automation system for this new line. The flake is produced by reducing trees or recycled wood into small peaces (flakes) using a Chipper with a 6kV motor. The wood in feed on this this machine it is automatically controlled to avoid 6kV motor overcurrent. Depending on the wood type. The flake must be stored on the correspondent pile and for that the routes are automatically controlled by the PLC.
